Today was a blessed day. Two brand new friends were invited a week ago for a luncheon at my home....that was before the great painting weekend surprise was launched...before I had an unexpected career opportunity for my life....before things got even wilder than I had expected in our family schedule.... It began so very early this morning with work time, then God time, then unexpectedly 4 boys from the football team in my house after a 6:30 a.m. football practice time came in to shower and head to a tournament in another town....then scrambling to make breakfast happen before they left for the basketball tournament....I had this whole day scheduled down pat....it was planned to work and work just fine...then life kept happening...
This was where I began after and during the painting 3 rooms surprise my husband did for Valentine's Day...unfortunately 3 closets had to be unloaded as we cleared the areas to be painted...right into my kitchen! So it was still there as we finished up last night's last of the 22 loads....

So by this morning at 10 I had to get the room to go to this and about the time I was feeling mighty overwhelmed at all the interruptions Malia Russell's
Homemaking911 email came to my box...talk about perfect timing!

and re hang and arrange this
While fielding normal daily life, the curtains rehung, the mantle reset....then in only ways God could have predicted....my plan for this morning starting getting really interesting starting with a twitter yesterday saying I should check
Lori's blog in the morning.....and about the same time I also had a long long ago friend contact me regarding an opportunity they needed an answer to almost immediately that required paperwork...that literally took my breath away....adding confusion to the pot of the morning as I worked and tried to stay on task...
and more phone calls, client calls, and supervision of homeschooling while scrambling to finish the rest of the house.... a simply crazy crazy mixed up silly kind of what can happen next in a day
then at 10, there I am in the doorway, not ready, no makeup or shoes...... a zillion interruptions had happened...but determined to go forth and conquer hospitality today.....with another tweet that one of the guests was down with a migraine.....and yet other happenings keeping me off the proposed schedule and meal finishing......cable men came....neighbors called....puppies needing attention...children having "I forgot and can you rescue me by...." moments

As the doorbell rang about that time I laughed inwardly and said....alrighty then....I understand God....vanity and pride aren't going to be mine today (at least now she'll know Mary Kay products do work...my before is convincing!)......took a deep breath and welcomed my guest barefoot, unmadeup, and happy to see her! My planned luncheon turns into beautiful table with Arby's takeout....as per my guest's and daughter's request we just loaded up and went to get it...did I mention that Steak and Shake's drive through is NOT Arby's....but a u turn in my Jeep quickly fixed that!....and we spent long hours into the evening sharing faith, friendship, and fellowship while I forgot my shortcomings, and thankfully put my self aside and simply adored my guest..... and the fellowship that God brought to our home today...
and it really never matter that I never managed to put on shoes or makeup after all...
God is good, and I am blessed....and if nothing else....my new precious friend will know that when I say I am far far from perfect and you never quite know what will happen at my home in a day......she will know it's the absolute truth!
Hebrews 13:12 Do not foreget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it....

I think that might be a great example of making the best of it. :)
