Company Girl Coffee 4.17.09

Girls! Today I am in Nashville, Tennesse meeting with none other than Mrs. Fussypants! Allison Worthington of Blissfully Domestic and Worthington Wire. I am so hoping to meet up with a couple of my favorite bloggers while I am in the area as well! Since I want so much to hear of your week, Miss Madison has agreed to have the coffee on when you arrive....and if I know that girl of mine, she'll have something yummy on the table too! I'll be here as soon as I get back!

The week was outstanding. Easter Sunday was a great day in our family, we joined the church we've been attending for six months. Sometimes when you work in ministry, joining a specific denomination closes the doors to working in others, but we felt strongly led by God to be members of this specific church and I am thrilled to have a church home in a great body of believers.

On the home front, we had such a good time going to the Huntsville Botanical Garden's annual plant sale yesterday. We bought a dogwood tree for our backyard and lots and lots of plants. We were able to see our friend Mr. Harvey Cotten, the Master Gardener in charge of the Garden and he gave us a personal tour of the sale and its events. How fun is that?!
On the work front, we moved forward on structuring the ministry site for step and blended family resources and took one step closer to preparing it for the ministry friends who have signed on to help us with this project. So excited to work with some of my heroes of the faith and to enjoy the growth that doing something new brings!
On the family front, the new puppy is keeping us up like all new babies do! We're enjoying time on the deck each night and working together on our freshly blank canvas...the back yard! Pictures to come!
On the Spiritual front, God is whispering again....and the news is exciting....that our ministry to help leadership gain new perspectives on how to build inclusive programming for all families is not limited to step and blended family solutions....that its simply for inclusive perspectives period!
On the God's Short Bus Girl record.....maintaining my title and card carrying status as I managed to talk to a client this week and not realize that they were one of the authors of another book I have recommended to him in providing leadership and educational training using a specific book......later got home and thought..."yes, he now at least knows I recommend his writing and book....though apparently I function as a blonde" He later teased me with a glowing review of the book I suggested and then highlighted his name on the cover! (add another to the moments to remember file)
On the Mom/Step Mom front: Son has lost his 4th driver's license of the year....of course on the day he flies to Dallas, so we're doing that this morning! My step daughter has figured out that when she married her new name is different from her old one! My step son at college reports that the men in blue shared with him proof that his lead foot still exists. Miss Madison accomplishes her first duet at church this weekend! How fun is it that Trista and Sherry teamed up to create this new look! (Yes I AM the one who spelled success wrong too!)
On the Wife front. I think I am the most blessed wife on the planet. My husband simply amazes me each week. I am so thankful for his kindness, his leadership, and his overwhelming ability to simply surprise us with the most unexpected joys!

God is good....sit down, take off your shoes and tell me your tales!

P.S. 11:17 p.m. The day was simply a blessed one! The scenery on I65 north from Alabama to Nashville, TN is a beautiful hillsides and God's gorgeous rolling hills scenery.....Mrs. Fussypants and her five boys and husband are precious....I managed to miss two other intended connections but God is God and I was delighted to make new friends, see others in person, and know that I'll be traveling ocassionally back to the Nashville area....God is gathering the players for His projects and its breathtaking to see how He brings the team together! Rachel Anne didn't tease me that she had to rescue me enroute because God's short bus girl managed to leave her dayplanner in Alabama so she didn't have names/addresses/phone contact numbers for who she was going to see! Details..... :)

Hi there! Your posts are always so cheerful! :)

Your picture of the Botanical Garden sale reminded me of my childhood when I used to go on plant trips with my mom. We'd head for the nursuries with flatbeads in the back of our van and pick up all kinds of flowers for our store. One of my favorite childhood memories! :)

You are awesome Shanna! Thanks for all of your encouragement.

Enjoy your visit!
Melissa

I was surprised to see you link up tonight...knowing what your day was like in Nashville! I hope it was productive, fun and just what you hoped it would be. Getting to meet Mr. Hyatt and Mrs. Fussypants in the same day? Cool.

The puppy is so darling!! I'll bet it has already stolen your hearts.

Great story about the book author! Sweetie, you just keep being yourself, that's why we love you.

I think Nashville is absolutely beautiful! I took my daughter there to play tourist when she graduated high school. We both fell in love with the that part of the country! Your puppy is just too cute. I'm going to have to spend more time poking around your blog. Have a blessed weekend!

I'm glad you had a great day in my adopted hometown. Next time you come up, give me a shout and we'll get together.

The puppy is adorable, makes me wish we had one, but at the moment 3 kids and 1 adult dog is enough.

Have a great week.

Thanks for sharing. We joined our church at the end of last year (transferring member from the church where I grew up), but it's nice to have a place called "home" (even if it's just temporary).

Look at that itty bitty puppy. Precious!

4th license...the year's not over yet. We'll help you keep count. hehe =p My excuse would be 'mommy brain' but I don't think he has that.

Thanks for the prayers.

It is such a blessing to see your kids sharing their faith. I hope your sweet girl continues to grow in courage as her voice sings praises to Him.

I'm not good at finding deals at yard sales. Maybe I go too late. Maybe I should go with you! I hope you continue to feel blessed by those God surrounds you with.
